Barks & Recreation is an enrichment-focused pet camp located in Tyrone, GA. We were founded after our owner recognized a major issue in the industry: overstimulation and stress at traditional daycares. These factors can often lead to behavioral problems and even conflicts. That’s why we emphasize the importance of providing both physical and mental stimulation—not just letting pets run around all day. This approach has been clinically proven to offer numerous benefits, including anxiety and stress reduction, correction of negative behaviors, and improved cognitive function. Our mission is to help every pet in our care build confidence and live an enriched, fulfilling life.
At Barks & Recreation, we are a kennel-free boutique styled facility, offering a home-like open space where pets can enjoy playtime and human attention all day! Our boutique-style boarding suites are designed to feel like home, with Toddler beds for sleeping and even TVs for ultimate relaxation!

About Us
Barks & Recreation is owned by Ashley Mayo-Barber, a passionate animal care professional who has dedicated her life to the well-being of animals. Since 2011, Ashley has worked in the animal care industry, with a special focus on rescue and enrichment. Rescue holds a special place in her heart, which is why she actively partners with Fayette Humane to foster dogs as they wait for their forever homes. She is also certified in AKC safe handling standards, canine CPR and first aid, and dog communication, ensuring the highest level of care for every pet she works with.
Ashley lives in Grantville, GA, with her husband and a beloved crew of rescue pets. Their family includes 4 dogs, 4 cats, 3 mice, and a hamster—all of whom are showered with love and pampered every day.
